Item 7 — One Magnum (1.5 liter) of 2007 Vina Robles Cabernet Sauvignon in a beautiful wooden box. This wine is deep, brilliant garnet in color and boasts aromas of intense rich, black fruit with undertones of oak, toast and coffee. Item 10 — It’s a Taste of Minnesota: two soup mixes made with 100% native Minnesota wild rice, sourdough beer bread in a bottle, Ole & Lena fortune cookies, a “From Minnesota … more than a cookbook” cookbook, and a passport to Minnesota. Item 11 — Three nights in a beautiful log cabin, built in 1994, in SW Colorado. No smoking!

  • Facilities: There are two bedrooms: one with queen bed and sink; the loft has a queen and two twin beds; the great room sofa converts to a queen bed. There is one full bath, a kitchen in the great room, a sun room, a large stone (from the property) fireplace and large east-facing deck. Location: The cabin is four miles north of Mancos, 21 miles east of Cortez, or 31 miles west of Durango. Surrounding are views of Mesa Verde and the La Plata Mountains; skiing is available 30 minutes to Hesperus, one hour to Durango, and two hours to Telluride. Minutes away is Mesa Verde National Park, within two hours is the Four Corners Monument, and many other museums, parks and trails are close. Fishing and hunting (in season) are available nearby.
  • Dining: There are over a dozen good-to-great restaurants within an hour’s drive. The kitchen is well designed for cooking at the cabin. There is a gas grill on the deck.
  • Transportation: You can fly into either Durango (several flights per day from Denver), but also Dallas (and possibly others). Cortez has two or three flights daily from Denver. Car rentals are available from both airports. The cabin is about eight hours drive from Denver and five hours from Albuquerque.
  • Owner: He is a glutton, has poor table manners, has been known to (on occasion) smoke good cigars, drinks too much wine and whisky and is irascible most of the time. He snores and smells bad. He is willing to serve as a guide.
  • Price: This property earned $950 for the medical expenses of the wife of an ASFMRA member, in a benefit held at the last meeting ASAC shared with them.

Item 12 — A blown glass paperweight is a unique Christmas gift for that special someone. This paperweight will dazzle the mind as you gaze at the gorgeous power of Mother Nature. Expertly crafted by Ukrainian artisans from molten glass and encased in crystal, decorative flowers and art forms appear to flourish in a cool glacial piece. It is approximately 3" in diameter.
